By the way I have just opened up a new companion store called Pastiche Poster Place. Take a second to browse some of the posters I have collected over the last few years. You may find an image that will catch your eye and connect with you. I hope you will be pleasantly surprised. At the very least you will be more aware of the variety images that I have at my finger tips. Brent Unrau
Artist Bio:
On New Year’s Day 1994, Hilario faced the monolithic stone temples of Monument Valley, Arizona and acknowledged, for the first time, his true nature. He returned home two days later and began to paint. As an Arizona native with a rich ethnic heritage, Hilario always identified with the spirit of the American Southwest. This unique identity became evident even as he produced his first paintings.
He studied the work of master artists, in particular Gerhard Richter and Dan Namingha, to perfect his technique. He uses his life experience to express his vision. Today, he explores the diversity of subjective and non-subjective images combined with distinctive surfaces and shapes to reveal the internal life of his emotions and his art. His explorations draw you in and allow you to wonder, remember, and awaken.
"As an Arizona native, I possess an innate awareness of the quiet struggle and fragile balance of the Sonoran Desert. My abstract style expresses the harmony in the desert’s chaotic emotion of line, color and form. Emotion is the soul of my work; inspired by the natural and man-made architecture of the landscape of Arizona."
"I believe the eye can touch an image and reveal sensation. I create conjoined colors; so, like a prism, there is no separation of one color to the next. Thus, my work evokes a different emotion depending on one’s nearness to the canvas."
As you can see I am attracted more and more to abstract art, yet I still long for some sense of orientation or grounding point in the abstract art that moves me. For this piece I have still have a sense of land and a horizon. I also enjoy how the old comforting triptych frame provides a warm and familiar context for the abstraction to play with. I hope you enjoy this piece. If you want to see this piece in person it is being displayed and is for sale at the Wired Monk Coffee Bistro at Bldg C #1, 20202 64th ave, Langley.
