Pastiche Art Gallery

Welcome to Pastiche Art's Gallery. This store gives you a chance to look at previous items that I have created and sold. Maybe you are looking for a piece that you have seen in the past, liked and just can't remember which one it was, or maybe you are just looking for some new ideas. If you do see one item that you like and are interested in having me put something similar together please get in touch with me. (budunrau@telus.net or 604-502-8558)
I will gladly get back to you with a personal response and an accurate price quote. I can not guarantee that I will be able to replicate a certain piece exactly but I will try to get as close as possible. The time it takes to put together a new piece may also vary due to the availability of the correct size window frame or the availability of a specific print. The prices that I have posted reflects what the items sold for in the past and may differ from 2008 pricing.
Thanks for your your interest. To look at pieces that have already been put together and are currently available see www.pasticheart.net

The eyes are the window to the soul, they say.
But for Brent Unrau, windows have provided him a little something for his soul.
Unrau, a family therapist, was working in an office nearly three years ago – a typically small and boxy workspace without a glimpse to the outside world.
He arrived to work one day and hung a print of a landscape mounted inside a double-paned window frame.
People began to notice. And comment. The framed piece seemed make visitors to his office feel they were, indeed, peering out an actual window to an outdoor scene.
Unrau realized he might be onto something.
He took a course at the Canadian Picture Framing School in Langley (which no longer exists) and decreased his hours as a therapist to pursue his new-found craft .
He now operates Pastiche Art out of his North Delta basement, a space where wooden frames lean one upon the other against nearly every vertical surface and most of the wall
space is overtaken by small and large pieces of
artwork. Pastiche refers to a work of art combined from various sources. Unrau
matches found or reclaimed window frames with complementary prints ranging from snowy farm scenes and beachscapes to
colourful flowersand leafy trees.
“It’s the romantic part of it – finding an
old frame and giving it new life,” he said. “I love to convert and to upcycle – some call it recycle, but I call it upcycle.” He tags the work “art with a view,” but says even without the prints and paintings, the frames are works of art in themselves, with their own oft en mysterious tales to tell. “To me, they’re a real intimate part of a house.” ( " A New Frame of Mind" written by Sheila Reynolds January 27 2008, Surrey/North Delta Leader)
