Pastiche Poster Place

Welcome to Pastiche Poster Place. This is a complimentary store that works in tandem with my main store Pastiche Art. Over time I have built up a good stock of quality posters. Some of these posters are waiting for an appropriate window frame (size and look) an others are simply waiting to be framed with old fence wood. With this store you can choose to purchase a poster as is, my prices are very competitive with the main line companies, or you can contact me to be more proactive in finding a window frame or making a fence wood frame for a particular poster that you like. This way you get to choose. I will simply get back in touch with you regarding the added cost (beyond the price of the print) to have it framed the way you want. So have fun choosing. All posters will be charged a flat 10% handling and shipping fee. Thank you.

Artist Bio:
Striffolino was born in New York City in 1950 and was raised on Long Island. Although he could draw with extraordinary skill since childhood, he never took a formal art class, feeling that his drawings were so personal he could allow no one -- not even teachers -- to interfere with his art. Instead, he majored in architecture at Ohio University. After graduating, he worked as an architect but soon began to feel increasing frustration over a life and career too distant from the art he loves.
In 1978 Striffolino left his job to embark upon what he has since called "an odyssey”. He backpacked and camped for seven months throughout North America and it was while camping in California that he made the decision to settle down and paint in earnest. This decision he later said "resounded in my soul". Immediately thereafter he moved permanently to northern New Mexico, where he still resides.
For Striffolino color is the highest and most subjective element of painting, but the real subject matter of his work is its emotional content. He strives to articulate on canvas an intense feeling about the location, whether it is the physical dynamics of the landscape or the juxtaposition of colors and light. This is when the painting really begins to take on a life of its own.
